My research field is multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary. As an immigrant myself, for the past 10 years I've been studying the Brazilian Community in Japan using a sociolinguistic approach. For my master’s thesis, I conducted the first large-scale empirical investigation of the Brazilian community in Japan. My Ph.D thesis focuses on issues of media representation, with a particular focus on the misrepresentation of ethnic minority groups in Japanese media.

私の研究分野は学際的です。日本に在住する外国人であり、移民の女性として、在日ブラジル人コミュニティに興味があり、研究してきました。修士論文では、質的と量的な視点から、在日ブラジル人コミュニティにおける言語維持を研究しました。民族誌的アンケート調査とインタビューを用い、在日ブラジル人の言語能力と言語使用を分析しました。博士課程に進んでからは、主に日本の広告におけるマイノリティグループのイメージ・アイデンティティについて研究しています。
