本学教員からのClosing Speechです。

March 15, 2013

We would like to say our deep condolesences on the loss of Dr.Wes Koczka, Associate Vice President International and CEO of TRU World Global Operations. We are deeply sorry to hear of his sudden passing. We are always impressed and inspired by the distinguished success of TRU World and obviously it is the achievement of his contribution. Please accept our heartfelt sympathies for you and for his family.

TRU World has accomplished strong growth and expansion and is still on the progressive path. And our TRU-BGU program is also on the progressive path. Marvelously our unique, excellent and well customized program has continued 8 years. This means that we have wonderful support from a long list of people, for example our warm-hearted host families, cheerful and hardworking staff, honest and diligent ESL instructors and our faithful academic colleagues, TRU professors, as well as our constant and cumulative combined effort. Thank you for having the honor to express our deep gratitude here. I am proud to be involved in this program and greatly appreciate your cordial co-operation and sincere help.

I cannot forget the first day I came here to talk about establishing this new program. Everything was new for all. The customized program, especially with specific and academic basis, seemed to have a high threshold for both institutions because a commitment of academics (professors) and faculties are necessary. We knew we had to make a big effort to connect TRU World, BGU international office, TRU faculties and us, BGU faculties besides normal arrangements though it is still a big job. However we succeeded and continue and this is still on the progressive path as I mentioned. We hardly find any other equivalent international program in Japan. So this program is really outstanding and excellent.

Our goal is to let the student find, know and perceive what is common and different even though we live spread out in the world through academic stimulations, experiences of different culture and interaction with the people with who we cannot easily communicate through familiar language. We believe this leads students to understanding fundamentals and having philosophies in the future though this experience is a small trigger.

Anyway, this day is about you, the students. You, who have come from Japan to Canada, leaving the comfort of your homes, to get something in your life. During your stay in Kamloops your life must be full of brilliant and shining experiences even though sometimes it was hard for you. This is a spark of you. Make this spark shining during your following study in Japan or abroad. You have many chances to study abroad for example at TRU! And keep this spark shining during your following life. This special experiences will become your motive, courage and treasure.

Now the time has come to say goodbye until the day we meet again.

On behalf of Bunkyo Gakuin University,

With our deep gratitude to TRU and your fabulous host families.
