今日から２つの小学校での現場実習が始まりました。今日はマービスタ小学校に行った８名の様子を紹介します。明日は、リンツコット小学校の８人の様子をお見せする予定です。
この写真はキンダーのクラス（日本で言う年長さんのクラスで小学校の一部になっています）です。子どもたちは床に座って一斉授業をしたりと様子は幼いように見えますが、算数の授業をしっかり受けていました。「数字あてゲーム」をしていましたが、数字の量的価値を教えていて内容は結構難しかったというのが学生の感想です。もちろん、英語での説明が一番難しく感じる原因なのですが．．．
The students had their internships at Mar Vista Elementary School and Linscott Charter School. Today I’ll show you how students at Mar Vista were doing.
Kindergarteners sat on the carpet at the front of the room. They learned numbers by playing a “Guess my number” game. The teacher told the class that she was going to think of a number and they were going to try to guess what it was. The students were very excited to guess. Bunkyo students tried to understand what was going on in class.

子どもたちのやっていることをしっかり観察してみると、いったい何をしているのかがだんだんわかってくるようです。この子は異なる形を何かのルールに沿って書いているようですが．．．？
She was observing attentively what this boy was doing and tried to figure it out. These boys were supposed to draw some shapes matched with the numbers ?

こちらの女の子たちも、幾何学模様のデザインに合わせてプラスチック図形を置いて数えているようですね。真ん中の女の子は少し日本語を話せるので、いろいろと教えてもらっているようです。
These girls tried to find all the specific shapes in each of the fun pictures. The girl in the center speaks some Japanese, so she can help Bunkyo students !

こちらは、もう一つあるキンダーのクラスです。この子は自分で「ある数字が同じように見えて混乱するのよ」と伝えていましたね。それが９と６であることはよくわかっていなかったようですが．．．個別指導をしてね、と先生にも頼まれていましたね。
This is another kindergarten class. A girl in the center told a Bunkyo student that she has been confused by some numbers like 9 and 6. She may be learning independently before she tackles all single-digit addition questions.

こちらのテーブルでも一桁の足し算をしていましたが、手を使って数えていると足りなくなるので鉛筆も使っていました。このクラスの担任の先生はたまたまお休みで、今日はサブの先生の授業だったのですが、子どもたちは落ち着いて勉強していたようです。
Here also a group of kindergarteners were tackling single-digit addition counting on fingers. Today the classroom teacher was absent, so a substitute was teaching. The children seemed well-behaved.
